Our Dance Programs
Patuxent Youth Ballet in Columbia, Maryland, offers classical ballet (Pre-Ballet through Pointe), Tap, Jazz and Modern classes and dance camps for children and adults.
Performance opportunities are designed to be affordable and enjoyable. All students are encouraged, but not required, to perform in our semi-annual recitals.
AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE® National Training Curriculum - ABT® Affiliate Teachers
Patuxent Youth Ballet is proud to include ABT® Affiliate Teachers Kristin Mesa and Rebecca Mesa who are certified in the AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE® National Training Curriculum.
An ABT® Affiliate Teacher is a level of distinction for ABT® Certified Teachers that successfully present their students for examinations. Primary through Level 5 is taught by ABT® Affiliate Teachers, Kristin Mesa and Rebecca Mesa, who have successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Primary through Level 5 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum.
ABT® Affiliate Teachers have completed intensive training in the AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE® National Training Curriculum, a breakthrough eight level program that combines high quality artistic training with the basics of dancer health and child development. ABT® Affiliate Teachers are permitted to teach the ABT® National Training Curriculum only to the levels in which they successfully completed the training intensive and passed a thorough examination.
The ABT® National Training Curriculum aims to assist beginning through advanced teachers in training dance students to use their bodies correctly, focusing on kinetics and coordination, as well as anatomy and proper body alignment. Artistically, the ABT® National Training Curriculum strives to provide dance students with a rich knowledge of classical ballet technique and the ability to adapt to all styles and techniques of dance.
ABT® Affiliate Teachers have completed intensive training in the ABT® National Training Curriculum and successfully passed comprehensive examination(s).
