Class Descriptions

Review the dress code for each class level.

Pre Primary, Ages: 3 – 4 years
Students study to develop posture, spatial awareness, musicality & interacting with other students. This class includes an introduction to tap.

Primary, Ages: 5 – 6 years
Students at this level will learn to be aware of other students & space. They will dance musically and with musical phrasing. The focus will be on introducing natural turn out strengthening the abdominals, back and feet. This class includes tap.

Level 1: Ages 7 – 8 years
Students must be 7 by November 1
Students at this level will continue with what they learned in Primary. They will also begin to learn vocabulary, correct alignment & placement. Barre exercises will be introduced at this level. No tap.

Level 2: Ages 9 – 10 years
Students must be 9 by November 1
Students should now have a working knowledge of the basic vocabulary & theory from previous levels. Turn out & correct posture should be maintained throughout barre work, with most barre work done now with one hand. Students will work extensively with allegro to help develop bone density & strength. No Tap.

Level 3: Ages 11 – 12 years
Students must be 11 by November 1
Students should now have a working knowledge of the vocabulary & theory from previous levels. All work at barre must maintain maximum turn out and correct posture. Correct placement & alignment of the feet will be stressed to avoid injuries. No Tap

Level 4: Ages 12 – 13 years
Prerequisite – at least 2 previous years of ballet training and permission from instructor.

Level 5: Ages 15 years & older
Prerequisite – at least 2 years of previous Level 4, and permission from the instructor.

Level 5b: Ages 15 years & older
Prerequisite – at least 2 years of previous Level 5a, and permission from the instructor.

Jr. Jazz/Tap 1: Ages 6-8 years
Jazz 2: Ages 9-12 years
Tap 2: Ages 9-11 years
Jazz 3: Ages 12 years & up
Tap 3: Ages 12 years & up
Students will study musicality, coordination, correct technique and choreography appropriate for their age.
